ContributeU2 – A Diary will be a better book as more U2 fans around the world share relevant facts and information, stories, photos, image scans, and anything else that might have a place in the book. Although the original manuscript was submitted to Omnibus Press in early January, this is a book that lends itself well to future updates, and I plan to continue tracking all of the important U2-related dates and events. I hope you’ll help! Please contact me if you think you have something relevant to share. I intend to acknowledge all contributors in the book. Here’s a rough idea of what I’m looking for: Facts / InformationIf you have information about something U2 (as a band or just one band member) did on a certain date, tell me about it. There’s no easy way to explain what kind of information will help, so feel free to send in anything you think might be of interest and I’ll decide if it’s helpful or not. It’s important that the fact/information you’re sharing can be tied down to an exact date as much as possible. Relevant stuff:You were at some other band’s concert and you happened to see Edge or…
F.A.Q.s1. When will the book be published? The book should be on store shelves in Fall, 2008. 2. Don’t you already have a U2 timeline on @U2? Why turn it into a book when it’s already on the web? We did have a section on @U2 called “This Date in U2 History,” which is currently offline for two reasons — the second of which is this book. That material provided a very early foundation for U2 – A Diary, and much of it will be included in the book. However, as my research quickly proved, that section of @U2 is very incomplete. “This Date in U2 History” runs about 50,000-60,000 words. The manuscript I submitted was almost 204,000 words. The book, as you can see, will include a lot more than what was on @U2. It’ll have much more information, not to mention many expanded “back stories” and behind-the-scenes information culled from interviews I’ve done (and will continue to do) that have never been published before. 3. Isn’t there already a book that covers U2 on a day-by-day basis? You might be thinking of the terrific book, U2 Live – A Concert Documentary. That book details every concert U2 has…
About the BookU2 is the biggest band in the world. They’re loved by millions of fans. Dozens of books and thousands of articles have been written about U2. Everything they do is news. Yet, there is no single, comprehensive resource that details all the relevant day-to-day history that has shaped U2 into the band it is today. U2 – A Diary is that book. It’s a book that will present the complete history of U2 — from 1950s Dublin when Bono’s parents were married, to the birth of the band, and all the way to the present — told as it happened in an easy-to-use diary format. But it’s more than just a timeline of dates and facts. U2 – A Diary will provide the important stories behind the “who, what, when, and where,” including stories and insights about key moments in U2′s development that have never been told before. Book History In the spring of 2005 I was pitching a different book idea to various publishers, including Omnibus Press (part of Music Sales Group). Omnibus wasn’t interested in the book idea I was pitching, but instead approached me to write U2 – A Diary. After some initial discussions about the idea,…

Now on Barnes & Noble (pre-order)

Had to add that “pre-order” to the headline because I didn’t want to give the impression that the actual book was available at Barnes & Noble. What I’m saying is that the book can be pre-ordered at Barnes and Noble for those of you who prefer B&N over Amazon.

Looks like B&N doesn’t have a cover image yet:

I should really put together a list of all the places it can be bought, huh? Like, that might help sell more copies, wouldn’t it? 🙂
