We Have a Release Date!

16 Sep 2008

Mark your calendars:

October 13, 2008

That’s the expected release date for U2 – A Diary. You can safely ignore the estimated dates that appear on Amazon and other booksellers. Still, we’re less than freakin’ month away! How cool is that?

Chris, my editor at Omnibus, tells me that the book is expected to arrive in their warehouses sometime the week before. I’m not positive, but I think this means the book will reach UK stores first, and then Europe/North America after that. It seems publishing is an inexact process, unless you’re a Big Author putting out a Big Book, in which case the publication date is set well in advance and timed to coincide with a huge promotional push. In our case, the book will be available when it gets shipped to your local bookstore, or your online store of choice. :)

What’s Next

While there won’t be a huge promotional push for U2 – A Diary, I do have lots of ideas and plans for spreading the word about the book online. There’ll be some contests and games and things like that where you get to participate and maybe have a chance to win a copy of the book … I’ll even sign it if you want. :)

I invite and encourage you to bookmark this blog (or subscribe to the free RSS feed) and visit regularly from this point forward for the latest news, status reports, contests, and much more about U2 – A Diary.

If this is your first time visiting U2diary.com, feel free to use the Category links on the right to read up on what you’ve been missing. You’ll find several Book Samples, the various Calls for Help that I put out (and the great answers fellow U2 fans provided), some Unsolved Mysteries, and more.

Less than a month to go; this only hit me when the calendar reached September and I realized … Wow. Next month. I can’t believe it.

I can’t wait to get my hands on this book. It’s going to be great, I can feel it. Plus if the release date is as stated it’ll be one of the best birthday presents i’ve had in years.

Less than a month.. I’m looking forward to this, Matt.

I take it there’s no danger it could be postponed until next year if you hit a rich songwriting vein?

    :o)

I’m very interested in buying this book. Never heard of it until yesterday but you have compiled their entire history into a book with a pretty dazzling cover page. I can’t wait for this to hit stores so I can get it and then I’ll be able to learn a lot more about my favorite band.

[...] rock ban U2.  Love the band or hate them, it’s still pretty cool that he wrote it and it is due to be released in less than a month! My son and I saw a house we loved at the Parade of Homes last week, and it’s about $150k [...]
